Some of you already know that about a year ago I was accepted in the Explorers Club, a very exclusive club founded in New York in 1904. The Club has been the meeting place for people who have seen more of the world (and space!) than anyone would think possible. The Club is a members-only institution, where the most outstanding explorers, scientists and astronauts are part of it. The deepest oceans, the highest mountains, the furthest lands, the polar caps, even the Moon itself have been explored by members of this club.
The newest members are other types of explorers. Now it is not about being the first to reach the highest mountain, or the first to go to the Moon. Now it is about doing sustainable science, to advance scientific exploration, to fulfill our instinct of exploration, uncovering the world´s greatest secrets, or touching upon undiscovered territories.
The members of this club have created history, and continue to do so! And that is why, I am so extremely happy that I have been appointed Chair of the Explorers Club Hong Kong Chapter. I hope that during my time as Chair we are going to keep pushing the boundaries of exploration, not just exploration on Earth, but also exploration of other planets and moons, to help us move forward. We are at the moment preparing some exciting field trips and let me assure you, I can hardly wait for our future explorations!
Below you can see the video made from footage captured by our incredible members on expeditions. The film was produced and edited by members Mark Fisher, Eric Daft, Teton Hd and Mike Sakas, and narrated by founder Michael Barth. Enjoy it!
